A Guided Tour Through Venice In Linz (2024)


In a performative ‘Guided Tour Through Venice In Linz’, I take on the role of tour guide. Together with my group we immerse ourselves in the modern authenticity of commercial shopping-megastructures that aim to resemble historic Venice. Can the leftovers of an old McDonalds, carried by plastic columns, be treated with the same importance as ancient Italian architecture? Is staring at a screen on the ceiling the same as looking up into an actual dome? How to recognize absurdity in an environment where most eyes move from shop to shop?

The guided tour took place on the 25th of January 2024 in shopping mall PlusCity in Linz, Austria.
