Digital Nomadic Happenings

These days, everyone can be reached digitally. But why is digital collaboration so difficult and boring? How can it be done other than through a zoom call? How do we make the most of the virtual world without losing ourselves?

Urged by these questions, I organized with the help of two colleagues and funding of NextGenerationEU, a three-day research event: Digital Nomadic Happenings. In these workshops we explore the dividing line between the virtual and the physical. We find possibilities of making art collectively with digital tools. How can we collaborate? How can you reach new audiences? How can the digital help us to connect? Which media meet? And how do we make art together from here?

The three Digital Nomadic Happening workshops took place on the 24th and 31st of May, and on the 7th of June 2023 at Minus One in Ghent, Belgium. The themes were ‘From Calling to Performance’ , ‘From Socials to Image’ and ‘From Zoom to Sound’. The project received financial support from NextGenerationEU within the framework of Nomadic School of Arts.
