Benutzung Auf Eigene Gefahr

The public intervention ‘Benutzung Auf Eigene Gefahr’ questions the relation between landscape and image. How does the touristic gesture of taking photos influence the way we care about landscape? Can we replace it with an image, or does nature always find a way to disrupt?

...Tell me, why do I feel so detached?
When did I lose the capability to grasp the mountains, their slow movements?
When did the fence rise between me and the lake?
What happens when we use it merely as background, putting ourselves in front of it?
Is reducing to image, an act of framing, the only way to understand landscape?
Why is the frame directing our view on it?...

Exhibited on the 18th of January 2024 as part of Salzkammergut Cultural Capital in Gmunden, Austria within a project initiated by space&designstrategies.
